Satellite-based Wi-Fi

Satellite-based connectivity for the remotest regions of the world.

Satellite Internet is wireless Internet connection provided through the communication satellites orbiting the Earth. It is independent of the location and the service can be accessed from anywhere within the range of the satellite. It is emerging as an effective alternative for communication and broadband services in remote and rural areas where traditional Internet mediums are hard to reach.

Satellite Internet is fast gaining popularity around the world and big Internet companies are entering this space to offer faster Internet services.

Indio is proud to be associated with leading satellite operators to offer affordable Internet connectivity solutions across the world.

Satellite-based Wi-Fi Challenges

No Fiber Connection

In regions where the challenges of low population density render traditional fiber and cable infrastructure impractical, satellite-based internet is a viable option.

Affordability

Successful rural connectivity projects require low deployment and operational costs, with solutions that minimize CAPEX and OPEX for long-term sustainability.

Robust & Secure

The equipment must be highly robust to endure harsh conditions, while networks should ensure strong security to protect user data and maintain privacy without compromise.

Key Drivers for Satellite Internet

Limited Internet access in rural areas Universal connectivity initiates by Governments Smart Cities and Connected Vehicles High demand for instant, universal communication

Indio’s Satellite Solution

Indio offers a complete ground solution for setting up satellite-based Wi-Fi hotspots to provide affordable Internet access to the people.
It is well-known fact that satellite Internet is not affordable to the common people owing to its high installation and operational cost. At present, the cheapest satellite connection from Starlink cost $500 for installation (which itself is subsidized) and $100 as monthly expense. The cost of satellite broadband is 10X the cost of regular broadband connection. Furthermore, satellite broadband was designed to offer connectivity to rural and underserved regions of the world that will not be able to afford this high cost.
Indio’s satellite solution solves this issue by creating micro-billing on top of satellite broadband. The satellite connection will be shared with multiple subscribers and each subscriber will be offered data in small packs which they can purchase online. The satellite feed is distributed within the given region via outdoor Wi-Fi network as shown in the diagram below.

Advantage of Indio’s Satellite Solution

Makes satellite Internet affordable Enables sustainable business in rural areas Custom micro billing plans Full utilization of satellite broadband Provide Internet access over wider area
